Renovation efforts at the historic Umayyad Mosque in Damascus continue following the fall of the Assad government, with preparations underway ahead of Ramadan, reports Daily Sabah. Burgundy-coloured wool carpets, personally selected by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and sent from Gaziantep, Turkiye, have begun to be laid in the mosque.
